Filmmaker/Graphic Artist Michael Kutza started the Chicago International Film Festival in 1964 to showcase independent films and provide an alternative to the commercial Hollywood movies that dominated the city's theaters at the time. Since it's inception, the Festival has played host to a laundry list of filmmakers and actors such as Martin Scorsese, Al Pacino, Edward Norton, Christopher Walken, Robert Zemeckis, Alan Arkin, Helen Hunt, Ben Affleck, Martin Sheen and so on. Today, the Chicago International Film Festival is a two week event that features films from over 60 countries.
